"Old Dohenys Dunmanway team who contested the 1897 Al-Ireland Final with Kickhams of Dublin and lost by 2-6 to 0-2. It was the 5th appearance of Cork in the Final since the Championship commenced in 1887. By the turn of the Century, Cork had played in 6 Finals. They won in 1890 and lost in 1891."
